Key System Design Consultation

Once the location specific information has been collected, the InstaKey® representative provides options for the key system design. These options are based upon overall program cost savings, time management and efficiency, and utmost security.

Key system designs do not have to be difficult. InstaKey® has simplified this process by allowing you to choose from an assortment of options.

Grand Master Key (GMK) systems are designed to have a single operating key work in a multiple number of keyed different cylinders specifically grouped by Master Key. Many commercial multi-site or large single site customers choose this option to differentiate keyed access between departmental requirements, high security areas, contractor service areas, or card access override systems, to name a few. This option limits the number of available re-keys between Grand Master, Master, and User keying levels.

Master Key (MK) systems are designed to have a single operating key work in a multiple number of keyed different cylinders specifically combined by group. Some commercial customers have chosen this option to provide a Building or Facilities manager access to all doors in their area or building whereas administrative personnel only require access to a single door. This option limits the number of available re-keys between the Master and User levels.

Single Keyed Different (SKD) systems are designed to have only one operating key work in a single cylinder (no multiple cylinder access). A number of commercial customers have chosen this option to increase the number of available re-keys for contractor space (janitorial, electrical, and fire riser rooms). This option increases security at their locations by limiting access where only maintenance personnel require access.
